Jr Chef Competition

"Exciting news, and EVERYONE is invited in a safe way! On 9/11, Saturday, we are launching a new program, “The Uncommon Junior Chef Competition” with students in a fun, exciting, and interactive manner. As part of our partnership with Ørsted and Helena Energy Center, we are teaching students locally at St. Philip's Episcopal School, St Mary'S Academy Charter School, and Skidmore-Tynan ISD about sustainability in creative, uncommon ways.

 

Just like we see on the Food Network shows, the students that day will get a mystery box of ingredients, cook for 1 hour, and present to a panel of judges. Everything in the box will represent different elements of sustainability (ie, growing, production, packaging, transportation, consumption, and so forth). 

 

Outside of the students and YOU, partners, friends, and our uncommon family will be there to cheer on the junior chefs—Beeville Picayune, Peaceful Pig, Dagon Produce, The Cheese School, Ottensman Farm, Orsted, Helena Energy Center, Bonnie Farms, The East & The Crow, Pop’s Produce & More, teachers, parents, musicians, food specialists, journalists, and agricultural experts.
