Renewable Energy Workshop

  • Share:
Name: Renewable Energy Workshop
Date: December 8, 2021
Event Description:
Calling all educators in Bee County for a free workshop on renewable energy! Exciting! As part of our vision for sustainable impact in communities and with the support of Ørsted and Helena Energy Center, it is an honor to be partnering with and learning from national organization, KidWind Project. Led by Director Michael Arquin, for the last 16 years, KidWind has been focused on helping educators and students explore renewable energy through their award-winning curriculum, teacher workshops, and student challenge competitions.

To get started, on December 8, 2021 from 9 am to 2 pm, for the first time in Bee County, collectively with KidWind, we will be hosting and offering teachers a free opportunity to learn about renewable energy with an aim of incorporating the ideas into their classroom with their students. Micheal and his team will conduct a fun, uncommon, safe workshop with lots of hands-on activities at Coastal Bend College. Then, educators will begin to get our students excited and invite them to participate in teams in the local Bee County KidWind Student Challenge Competition focusing on wind or solar projects in February/March (dates TBD). Finally, top teams from our community will be invited to the National KidWind Challenge, which amazingly will be in San Antonio for the first time ever in May, assuming COVID allows us. Wow!

So, if you are an educator at any school system (public, private, or home) in Bee County or nearby areas and are excited about sustainability through renewable energy, please sign up for this free workshop. Please let us know, and we will be sending registration forms, links, materials, agenda, etc. next week. Thanks to KidWind!
